Home to the Colne Valley Visitor Centre and nestled in the middle of the Colne Valley sits Denham Country Park. With almost 70 acres of meadows, rivers, canals, lakes and woods the Park provides enough variety to cater to everyone’s taste. Whether you are walking the towpath from Cowley, Uxbridge or Rickmansworth, going for a hack down the bridleway or river dipping in the river Misbourne, there is always somewhere to explore and something to see.
Denham Country Park is home to a vast array of birds, aquatic creatures, mammals and insects. Red Kites and Kestrels are common sights in the sky, as are muntjac deer in the wooded areas of the park. In the summer you may see large groups of St. Mark’s Flies drifting along by the rivers. The flies are harmless, but distinctive due to their long back-legs which hang down in a point: it’s not a stinger, we promise! Herons are an especially common sight in the late winter months, when the flora has died back and they are more visible standing in the rivers, canals and lakes.

Things to Do
Denham Country Park benefits from having the Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre at it’s heart, so there is always something to do for adults, children and families.
Visit the gift shop for a frisbee, bug viewer or fishing net (or bring your own!); play in the adventure playground; lay down a picnic rug and unpack a basket; order lunch from the Visitor Centre Cafe; take a walk through the park; go river dipping; build a den in the woods; follow the orienteering trail; do brass rubbing; buy a second hand book and relax with an indulgent hot chocolate; go birdwatching; or even volunteer!
CVP Visitor Centre Café
Our newly refurbished café serves a large variety of tea and coffee, cold drinks, snacks, hot lunches, ice cream and homemade cakes. Sit inside (good for chilly winter walks or sweltering summer days) or outside on our veranda, in our herb garden or at our picnic tables. Perfect for family lunches, meetings with friends or for a quick stop on your dog walk, the CVP Café is open everyday of the year (except Christmas Day) and you’ll always be welcomed with a smile.
There is a selection of secondhand books to read and buy, colouring for children and a gift shop.
The Park has toilet, disabled toilet and baby-change facilities. Car parking costs £2.50 all day (annual parking permits are available). There is an accessible walking route for those with prams, buggies or wheelchairs, but if you have any concerns please ask, our staff will be happy to help.
The Visitor Centre is open 10.30am – 3.30pm from November – March and 10.30am – 5pm April – October. The car park opening times vary. Please call 01296 395000 for the most up to date times.
You can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01895 833 375 (please be aware that this phone number is often monitored by volunteers and sometimes the quickest way to get in contact is through email).
